Berne Tri-Weekly

Letter to the Editor

Many have stated all the wonderful, giving things Art and Gloria Muselman provided during their lives. We could talk for a hundred lifetimes and still not come close to thanking them for what they have done here on Earth. I owe them a personal debt of thanks that I will never be able to repay.

If not for the Muselmans I would not have come to Berne. They gave me an opportunity here at a time in my life when I needed a door to open. Thanks to the Muselmans I have a city I love, a wife I adore, and two wonderful children I am raising in this great place. I have a business that we try our best to run year after year and have adopted the model the Muselmans have provided all these years. We try to give back to the community. That is something they taught me - give back to your community. Many others in town have picked up that call as well. So I publicly acknowledge the debt I owe the Muselmans - a debt I will try to pay back a little at a time by living as you lived - in a giving manner and as a public servant.

To Roger, Karen and their families- your loss is much greater than all of ours and we feel your pain. There is no way to stop the tears, but you can smile through the tears if you stop to think that Art and Gloria are in paradise with the loved ones who were there to greet them. I can envision a Heaven that had Carl meet them at the gates and welcome them with open arms.

Sincerely.

Tony Mellencamp and family
