City mourns loss of civic-minded business owners Arthur and Gloria Muselman
Berne is remembering the loss of two of its leading citizens.
Arthur Kenneth Muselman, 77, and Gloria Elaine (Koeneman) Muselman, 76, part of the Muselman family's Berne-based publishing company DRG, died in a vehicle crash Thursday night.
According to a Wells County Sheriff's Department report, Gloria Muselman was driving a van eastbound on Indiana 218 with her husband when she went through the intersection with Indiana 1 and was struck by a semi tractor-trailer that had a flashing yellow light. The driver of that vehicle was not injured, according to the report.
Art Muselman was a director emeritus for Dynamic Resource Group, the management company that oversees the publishing and fulfillment companies owned by the Muselman family.
He was a lifelong resident of Berne. Gloria Muselman was from Decatur, according to information on DRG's Web site.
They were married Oct. 21, 1961, and were charter members of Peace Lutheran Church, where each held numerous offices and positions of leadership. Among their many other involvements and accomplishments, they served on the Parents Cabinet of Taylor University Upland in the 1980s, and were named Parents of the Year in 1987. Art Muselman was on the boards of First State Bank of Decatur, Concordia Theological Seminary and the Christian radio station WBCL. In 1978, Gloria Muselman received the Angel of Mercy award for service to the Berne Community. She served as leader of the Wabash Cloverleaf 4-H club and was a founding director of the Swiss Heritage Society.
